Volunteers Needed

Good morning everyone. Now that we have the new by-laws in place, our backlog has mostly been completed, and we as an organization are being more proactive, we now look to take on some of the larger agenda items.

First, if you are interested in joining the Coordination Committee, Corey KB9BNA will be doing a general training session on Monday, June 25th at 7:00 PM. It will go through the basics of the software that we use, as well as a general background of coordination from start to finish. The session will be done over the web, so you can participate from your computer. If you have any further questions, you can reach him at coordinationsecretary@wi-repeaters.org.

Also, we are looking for a group of volunteers willing to help build a new band plan for Wisconsin. Board Member Tony KT9AC has taken the lead on this, and together we hope to have a draft plan to review in a few months. If this is something you would be interested in helping with, please reach out to Tony at kt9ac@wi-repeaters.org.

As always, if you have further questions or comments, you can let me know at president@wi-repeaters.org.

Until next time, 73 de Dean KB7QDI

March Meeting Update

I want to thank the membership who attended the meeting at HRO in Milwaukee last Saturday (3/17) for allowing me the opportunity to continue as a member of the WAR board, and for the board’s trust in me to continue as President. It is through the leadership of Greg, Chris, Corey, and Dave, that we’d been able to accomplish so much in the last 6-9 months. And it’s my hope that we can take this organization even further.

With the new by-laws in place, we now have seven board members. Along with myself, your new board include Rick W9RIX (Vice-President), Josh KC9WWH (Secretary), Chris KC9NVV (Treasurer), Bill WQ9A, Mike N9OEZ, and Tony KT9AC.

For now you can still reach me at vice-chair@wi-repeaters.org, but in the near future we’ll also set up our website and email server to transition to the new titles per the by-laws. Keep an eye on the website for new information soon.

Until next time, 73 de Dean KB7QDI

Your Participation is Requested

Hello everyone. First of all, I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the holidays. I know it’s been a while, but as you can see we’ve made quite a bit of progress over the last few months. Thanks to my fellow board members, the Coordination Secretary committee, and our WAR Coordinator, much of the current backlog on getting repeater pairs have been at least entered into the system, and waiting for final approval. For those waiting for those repeater pairs, you should be hearing from us real soon.

Over the last six months or so, many of us have asked our members to help volunteer for some of the longer-term projects that WAR has been looking at. Some of them include:

  • Becoming District Representatives for your area
  • Joining the Coordination Secretary committee
  • Helping the discussion on possible selective access changes for the NW region
  • Modifying the current band plan to enhance current technologies, and possibly add new repeater pairs

If you are interested in learning more about any (or all) the volunteer positions available, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any other WAR board member. I hope to have the final volunteer list in a couple weeks, and subcommittees created by the end of January 2018.

Until next time, 73 de Dean KB7QDI
